Ilari Tuominen (born 1998) is a Finnish trumpet player currently finishing his master studies in Zürich University of the Arts in Switzerland in Prof. Frits Damrow’s trumpet class in classical music performance. Before his time in Zürich he graduated from Sibelius Academy as a master of music, where he studied with Prof. Pasi Pirinen.
Tuominen started his trumpet studies in Tampere and later attended the junior department of Sibelius Academy in Helsinki.
In addition to his academic studies Tuominen as worked as a freelance musician in orchestras such as Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Finnish Baroque Orchestra and Lappeenranta City Orchestra. He has deepened his knowledge in various masterclasses held by the top professionals in his field. In June 2024 he took part in prestigious trumpet seminar at the Center for Advanced Musical Studies at Chosen Vale, US.
In 2024 he won the audition for Helsinki Philharmonic Apprenticeship Training Program and the same year received the Martin Wegelius Memorial Foundation Recognition Grant.
With a great passion for versatility in styles Tuominen has studied baroque trumpet with Prof. Miikka Saarinen in Helsinki and Prof. Simon Lilly in Zürich.
